Effective date: October 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Autwary (“Autwary,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit autwary.com (the “Site”). Autwary is an independent publisher of reviews and guides about extended car warranties and vehicle service contracts for readers in the United States. We do not sell products or services on this Site, and you do not need to create an account to read it.
Information we collect
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information about your device and how you use the Site, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, approximate location (city or region derived from your IP address), referring website, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and the date and time of your visit. This information is collected through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
Information you provide. If you email us or leave a comment, we collect the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message or comment. When you leave a comment, WordPress also records your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam, and an anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or precise geolocation, and we ask that you do not send it to us.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and secure the Site;
- To understand which articles are useful and improve our content;
- To display advertising that helps keep the Site free to read;
- To respond to your questions, corrections, and requests;
- To moderate comments and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse;
- To comply with legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them to remember your preferences (for example, your privacy choices or comment details), to measure how the Site is used, and to support advertising. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. If you do, some features may not work as intended, and you may still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.
Advertising and Google AdSense
The Site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Advertisers and ad networks are responsible for the ads they show. An ad on this Site is not an endorsement by Autwary. See our Advertising Disclosure for more information.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, through Google Site Kit, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on page, and approximate location, and reports it to us in aggregate. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers that help us run the Site, such as our web hosting provider, WordPress plugins, and anti-spam tools.
- Advertising and analytics partners, such as Google, which collect information through cookies and similar technologies as described above. Under some U.S. state laws, allowing these partners to collect information for targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out as explained below.
- Legal requirements, when we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Autwary, our readers, or others.
- Business transfers, if the Site is sold or transferred, in which case information may be transferred to the new owner under this Policy.
Your U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California (under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act), Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information we have collected from you;
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
How to opt out. Visitors from U.S. states with these laws will see a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” option on the Site, provided through Google’s privacy messaging tools. You can use it at any time to opt out of personalized advertising on this Site. We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals sent by your browser as a valid opt-out request where required by law.
How to make other requests. To exercise your right to know, access, correct, or delete, email us at golmak04@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will need to verify your request, usually by confirming the email address or other details you provided, and we will respond within the time required by law (generally 45 days). You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof that the agent is authorized. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the word “Appeal,” and we will respond to the appeal as required by your state’s law.
Categories of personal information. In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as IP address, cookie identifiers, and, if you contact us, your name and email address); internet or other electronic network activity (such as browsing and interaction with the Site); and approximate geolocation. We collect this information from you and your device, and we disclose it to the service providers and advertising and analytics partners described above for the purposes described in this Policy. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit its use.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to DNT signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals as described above.
Visitors outside the United States
The Site is intended for readers in the United States. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before advertising and non-essential cookies are used, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the “Privacy and cookie settings” link on the Site. Information collected through the Site may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
Data retention and security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, such as responding to your message or keeping published comments, unless a longer period is required by law. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the settings and policies of our partners. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections, to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party links
Our articles may link to warranty providers, government agencies, and other third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any information.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
