About Autwary

Autwary is an independent resource for U.S. car owners researching extended car warranties, also known as vehicle service contracts. Our goal is simple: help you understand what you’re actually buying before a salesperson gets you on the phone.

Why we exist

The extended warranty industry has a reputation problem — unsolicited robocalls, vague “your warranty is about to expire” mailers, and sales scripts designed to create urgency. That reputation is partly deserved, and it makes it hard for car owners to tell a legitimate, well-priced plan from a bad one. Autwary was built to cut through that noise with plain-language reviews, side-by-side comparisons, real pricing data, and honest coverage of the scams and red flags to watch for.

What we cover

  • Independent reviews and comparisons of the major extended warranty providers
  • Buying guides that explain coverage types, contract terms, and how to evaluate a quote
  • Scam and complaint tracking, sourced from BBB filings and verified customer reviews
  • Cost breakdowns, financing options, and alternatives like self-insuring
  • Guidance by vehicle brand, age, and mileage
  • Straight answers to claims-process questions people search for after they’ve already bought a plan

How we make money

Autwary is supported by display advertising. We do not use affiliate links and no company pays to be reviewed or ranked — see our Advertising Disclosure for details. We explain our review process on the Editorial Guidelines page.

Who runs Autwary

Autwary is run by Daniel W. Brooks, the site’s founder and editor. Every article is researched from public sources — sample contracts, BBB records, FTC consumer guidance and customer review patterns — and is updated when a provider changes its plans, pricing or status.
